Walter Raymond
Brown, 79, a lifelong resident of Malden, died Monday, November
29, 2010 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. He was
born in Malden, in 1931 the son of Miles and Ethel (Thorne)
Brown. He was a graduate of Malden High School with the class of
1950. He then attended Boston University for a year before
enlisting in the US Air Force. He served during the Korean War,
and was honorably discharged in 1954. Not long after returning
to Malden, he was courting his sweetheart Marie F. Ivone, and
the two were soon married in the Immaculate Conception Church in
Malden. They shared 54 years together until Walter's passing.
Walter had
worked at the Port Terminal in South Boston as a warehouse
manager. He had worked for the company for over 20 years, when
they relocated and at that time he chose to retire. He was a
Life Member of the Malden VFW Post 603, as well as a member of
the American Legion Post 69 in Malden and the Italian American
Citizens Club in Malden. Walter was very patriotic and very
outgoing, and would shake hands and say hello to everyone.
Walter was also an avid coin collector, and he enjoyed going
dancing with his wife. In his quiet time, he enjoyed sitting
down to watch all of the local sports teams.
He is survived
by his wife Marie F. (Ivone) Brown, his children, +, Robert W.
Brown of N. Reading, and Joanne M. Gayron of Saugus, his dear
friend Emma Grenier of Malden, MA, his brother, Lawrence
Brown of Malden, and his grandchildren Nicholas, Jonathan,
Allison, and Shannon.
Walter was
preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Ethel (Thorne)
Brown; his brothers Arthur Brown, George Brown, and Ralph
Brown; and his sister, Beatrice Brown.
Visitation
will be held at the Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem
Street, Malden on Wednesday, Dec 1st, from 4:00 PM
to 8:00 PM
Funeral
services will be held from the Weir – MacCuish Funeral Home on
Thurs, Dec 2nd, at 8AM followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, Malden, at
9AM. Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
