Virginia F Burk
Virginia F. Burk, 89, a
longtime resident of Malden, died Saturday, November 15, 2008 in Billerica,
Massachusetts. Virginia was born in Boston, and raised in Roxbury. Soon after
graduating High School, she married her sweetheart, Willis "Ray" Burk. She
shared over 60 years with Ray until his passing in 2005. For many years,
Virginia had worked as a waitress at the Kernwood Restaurant in Malden and Chickland Restaurant on the Malden/Saugus Line. She then took employment as a
Salesperson at Sears in Saugus. After fifteen years at Sears, she retired.
Virginia enjoyed sewing and
tending to the garden, and also enjoyed traveling with her husband Ray, as well
as babysitting their grandchildren. Mrs. Burk lived in Malden, Massachusetts
since 1956.
She is survived by her sons,
William R. Burk of AZ, David R. Burk of Burlington, and Robert L. Burk of
Wakefield, her sister, Eleanor Sprague of Scituate, as well as six
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her husband Willis "Ray" Burk, her sister "Bunny" McCann and her brother Robert
McDowell.
Funeral services will be held
from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Tues, Nov
18th, at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs
Church, Malden, at 10AM. Burial will immediately follow in the Puritan
Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral
Home on Monday, Nov 17th, from 4 – 8 PM.
