William  Joseph Burns

William  Joseph Burns, 77, of Nahant, formerly of S. Dennis and Malden, died Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.  Bill was born and raised in Malden, the fifth of nine children born to John and Mary Burns.  He was raised as a member of Sacred Hearts Parish in Malden, and attended the Cheverus and Lincoln schools before attending Malden Vocational School.  After his graduation in 1953, he attended Wentworth Institute for a year.  He then joined the US Army to help our countries fight in Korea.  He served honorably for 3 years and upon his discharge he returned to the Malden area. In 1959, he married his sweetheart, Janice DeLucca in St. Josephs Church in Malden  The two settled down in Malden to raise their family. 
Bill began working in the sheet metal fabrication industry as a salesman.  After a few years he partnered up with some friends to form their own sheet metal company, Delta Fabrication.  Bill helped run the company for many years until it sold..  He then worked for Conco Plastics of Woburn until his retirement. 
In 2001, after his retirement, Bill and Janice moved to South Dennis, MA.  They resided there for over 10 years and had only just recently moved to Nahant. 
Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 188 of Sandwich, MA, and was a past member of the St. Josephs Men's Club.  In his spare time, he enjoyed birdwatching, but his greatest joy came from being a grandfather.  He enjoyed being able to spend time with his grandchildren and would always attend their games and events as they grew. 
He is survived by his wife  Janice (DeLucca) Burns, his children,  Kathy Burns and husband John Condon of Nahant, Kevin and wife Linda (Baccari) of Norwell, and  Jim and his wife Carrie (McGeough) of Reading, his grandchildren,  Christina, Billy, Peter, Mason, and Will, his sister Patricia Morbo and husband Robert of Santa Clara, CA, his brother, David and his wife Carol of Winthrop, and his sister in law Eileen Burns of E. Sandwich.  He also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents,  John and Mary Burns and his siblings, John Burns, Catherine Paquet, Ann Carrico, Barbara Burns, James Burns, and Margaret Morrissey. 
Visitation will be at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden,  on Monday, July 11th,  from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM  
Funeral services will be held  from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden, on Tues, July 12, at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main St,  Malden, at 10AM.  Interment to follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
