 Robert W. Haskell

Robert Willis Haskell,  95, a  World War II Army Air Corps veteran, died  Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, in Bedford, Massachusetts.  Robert was born and raised in Everett.  After high school, Robert took employment with R.H. White Dept Store, starting in the shoe department. In 1942, he and his sweetheart, Eva C. Campbell were married.  He then  enlisted in the US Army Air Corp, to help fight in WWII.   After serving four years and attaining the rank of Sgt, he was honorable discharged and he returned to the Everett Area with his wife, before settling down in Malden to raise their family.  They shared over 50 years together until Eva's passing in 1995.    He returned to R.H. White, which had now been bought out by Filenes.  He worked for a total of 37 years with the company, retiring as the stock manager in 1975.

Robert was an avid stamp collector.  He also enjoyed reading science journals and National Geographic, as well as being a regular reader of Readers Digest.  Robert was never afraid of trying something new and was very handy around the home at tending to the various projects that needed to be done.  In the last couple of years while he was at the VA Hospital in Bedford, Robert developed a friendship with the staff there who cared for him very much.

He is survived by his sons,  Robert L. Haskell of CA, Stephan A. Haskell of Malden,  Leslie P. Haskell of Malden,  as well as 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
