Claire Doris Huntoon

 

     Claire D. (Peabody) Huntoon, died Thursday evening,  October 4, 2007 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford after a long illness, she was 74.  Born on October 2, 1933 the daughter of the late Walter & Bertha (Gordon) Peabody.  Claire was born in Everett and educated in the Everett school system and was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1951.

     When Claire graduated she started her working career with the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Boston working as an accounts payable clerk and later as a secretary for the next thirty-eight years until her retirement in the early 1990’s.  She was a member of the Quarter Century Club of Liberty Mutual. Claire was an active member of the First Parish in Malden Universalist.  In her spare time she enjoyed water aerobics with her sister-in-law Mary, at the YMCA in Malden and reading a good book.

She is survived by her sister–in-law Mary S. Peabody of Malden and several cousins and 2nd cousins.

     She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Huntoon, her father Walter I. Peabody Sr., her mother Bertha Gordon, and her brother Walter I. Peabody Jr.

     Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Tuesday, October 9th.  from 4-6 PM.

Contributions in Claire’s memory may be made to the Arthritis Foundation Inc.  29 Crafts Rd., Newton, MA 02458.

     A graveside service will be held  in the Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden on Friday,  October 9, 2007 at 11 AM with the Rev. David M. Host of the First Parish in Malden Universalist officiating.
