Anne Kuhn
Elizabeth A. Kuhn, of Reading, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 at
the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, she was 75. Born
on December 28, 1932 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late
Audber C. and Mabel G. (MacQuarrie) Steeves. Liz was born in
Boston but raised and educated in Malden. She was a graduate of
Malden High School with the Class of 1950. In her early years,
Liz worked on Capital Hill in Washington, assisting
congressmen. Eventually, she went to work in the Melrose School
Department as an administrative assistant to Sue Kennedy. Betty
and Sue worked together in the federally funded charter program
of Title 1, now called Chapter 1, which was located at the
Lincoln Public School in Melrose. The Chapter 1 program is
designed to give federal aide to school departments to help pay
for specialized teachers to give supplemental instruction for
those students who qualify. She worked for the school
department for almost 30 years until her retirement in 2001.
Liz married her sweetheart, Larry G. Kuhn on August 7, 1977 in
the First Baptist Church in Malden. Lizzy, as Larry
affectionately called her, had celebrated their 30th
wedding anniversary this past August. In addition to being a
passionate BINGO player, Liz was very active with the First
Baptist Church in Malden. Betty served as secretary for the
parish for many years as well as being very involved in the
church’s choir.
Liz is survived by her husband, Larry G. Kuhn of Reading, her
children, David C. Prater of Lowell, Alison E. Prater of Ft.
Lauderdale, FL, and Suzanne E. Prater of Woburn, her
grandchildren, Jesse M. Connors, Ryan J. Connors, Alicia E.
Baldi, and Alexander P. Martino, and her great-grandson, Adam D.
Baldi.
Visitation
will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden on Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 5 to 9 PM.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008 in the
funeral home at 10 AM. Rev. Martha A. Dominy, Pastor of the
First Baptist Church in Malden will be officiating. Interment
will be held at a later date. Please refer back to our web site
