"Pat" McCarthy
James Patrick "Pat"
McCarthy, 65, a longtime resident of Melrose, died Friday,
June 6, 2008 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford,
Massachusetts. Pat was born and raised in Malden. Completed
his education at Malden Vocational School. He then became a
member of the Teamsters Local #25, and began his career as a
truck driver. He drove for Star Market for 28 years, and
then for DeSilva Transportation in Somerville for a couple
more years until his retirement. Pat was a member of the
Irish American Club in Malden, as well as a member of the
East Side A. A.. Pat was a quiet person who was
enjoyed working with his hands. He fix both autos and small
engines. He was incredible at building and fixing just about
anything. Mr.
McCarthy lived in Melrose, Massachusetts for over 30 years
and was previously from Malden.
He is survived by his wife Priscilla (Guild) McCarthy of
Melrose, his daughters, Robin L. Ray of Melrose, Jennifer E.
Deschaine of AZ, and Brenda P. McCarthy of Melrose, his son,
Brian P. McCarthy of Melrose, his sister, Mary Leone of
Kingston, as well as 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. and Edna
T. (Nugent) McCarthy, and his sister Jane Gourlis.
Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden, on Monday, June 9th, from 4-8 PM
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2008 from
the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial
in St. Mary's Parish at 9:00 AM. Burial will be in the
Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
