Elizabeth Jean McGinnis

Elizabeth J. (Hill) McGinnis of Malden died Friday evening, July 11, 2008 at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham, she was 72.  Born on December 26, 1935 in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Myrtle (Will) Hill.   Betty was raised and educated in Quincy and was a graduate of Quincy High School.  After graduating high school, she attended nursing school for a short time.  In 1968, Betty moved to the Malden area with her family.  She was raised with a strong Episcopal faith so when her children turned old enough, she ensured that they too attended Sunday school.  Betty worked for many years at the UNICCO Service Co. in the payroll department.  She was recently recognized by the U.S. Government and Sen. Ted Kennedy for her contributions to the company.  Betty had just recently retired in June of 2007.   Betty also worked for Moulton Electric Co. in Malden as well as First Security in East Boston.

Betty was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to her flowers and vegetables.   She also was a tremendous cook and loved to host Christmas dinners.  Though she did love the swan boats in Boston Common, Betty was known as a “homebody.”  She thoroughly enjoyed the comfort of her own home and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children, Dawn M. Jenkins of Lynn, Patricia J. Magliochetti of North Andover, William A. Jenkins of Stoneham, Elizabeth J. McGinnis of Peabody, and Kathleen A. Critch of Newbury, NH, her brothers, Raymond A. Hill of Billerica and Franklin P. Hill of Holbrook, as well as 7 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 10AM.   Pastor Randall P. Ferrara, Pastor of the First Church in Malden, Congregational.  Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 from 4 to 8 PM.
