Walter
Frederick Prince, Jr.

Walter F. Prince,
Jr., a life-long resident of Malden, died on August 2, 2010 at
his home in Malden, he was 71. Born on December 19, 1938 in
Malden, he was the son of the late Walter F. Prince, Sr. and
Dorothy E. (Tanish) Prince. Walter was raised and educated in
Malden. He enlisted into the U.S. Air Force on December 11,
1959. He served 1 and half years while being stationed in both
Okinawa and Alaska. At the time he was discharged on April 26,
1961, he had attained the rank of Air Man, 2nd
Class. On May 8, 1965, he married his long-time love, Anne U.
Carberry in St. Joseph’s Church in Somerville, MA. The couple
settled in Malden to begin their family and life together.
Walter was employed for over 16 years as a machinist with Palmer
Manufacturing Co. in Malden. After his employment ended with
the Palmer Co., Walter turned a talent into a career. He had a
true skill for glass blowing. Walter went to work for Avon
Place Glass in Cambridge where he worked for many years honing
his craft. From April of 2010 through July, Walter had a solo
exhibition of his work on display in the Sandwich Glass Museum
in Sandwich, MA. He was extremely proud of this
accomplishment. Known as a “Jack of all trades,” Walter was a
fixer of anything. There was no problem he couldn’t solve.
Walter single-handedly built his own summer home in Sweden, ME.
He and his family summered there for many years until they sold
the property that sat on the waterfront of Moose Pond. Through
all his life accomplishments, Walter’s true passion was always
his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He enjoyed
all the time he spent with them camping, fishing,
whale-watching, and any other time he was blessed to spend with
them. He absolutely cherished his grandchildren.
Walter is survived
by his wife Anne U. Prince of Malden, his sons, Walter F.
Prince, III of Providence, RI and John Prince and his wife,
