Brendan T. Riley, a lifelong resident of Malden, husband of Mary Cawley Riley and son of the late William and Catherine Riley, passed away peacefully at his home on January 16, 2011.  He was born on May 9. 1920 in Malden, Massachusetts.

Brendan worked for the General Electric Co. starting in 1941 and returning after serving in the US Navy during World War ll.  During his tenure he rose to the position of Customer Service Manager retiring in 1984 after 43 years of dedicated service.

Brendan was an accomplished, artist, golfer, skier and gardener.

Brendan  is survived by: his nephews Norman Riley of New Hampshire, Rudy Aukschun of Maryland, Brendan White of Japan, Richard Riley of Malden, Robert Riley of New York, his nieces Mary Murphy of Newton, Eileen Riley of California, Ann Ellis of Malden, Phyllis McNally of Saugus, and many grand nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his sisters Rose Aukschun, and her twin Mary, Catherine Boyan, Louise Riley and his brothers, Edward,  William Patrick, William Jr. and Maurice.

Funeral from the Weir - MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Wednesday, January 19th @ 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Saint Joseph Church, Malden @ 10:00 am.    Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.  Visitation held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 18th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either: Hallmark Health Visiting Nurse and Hospice Assoc. 178 Savin Street, Suite 300 Malden, Ma 02148, or Medical Missionaries of Mary Retirement Fund, 179 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143.
