Kenneth Alan Ricker

Kenneth
A. Ricker of Seabrook, NH formerly of Malden and Wakefield
passed away April 19, 2011 in the Exeter Hospital, Exeter, NH
after a short illness, he was 78. Born on November 4, 1932 in
Medford, Ken was the son of the late Richard T. & Evelyn
(Goddard) Ricker. He was raised in Malden and was a graduate of
Malden High School Class of 1951.
After
high school in September of 1951, Ken enlisted in the U.S. Navy
during the Korean conflict serving on many ships including the
USS Kemplan D7756 and the USS Kimberly DD521. He served for the
next
three years until his discharge in September of 1955. While in the navy he
traveled the oceans visiting countries throughout the world.
Ken was
employed with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of
Public Works, as a civil engineer and surveyor on different
state highway projects. Ken worked for the state for over 30
years and retired in 1988. In 1989 he moved to his summer home
in Seabrook, NH and enjoyed retirement with his sister. In his
spare time he enjoyed coin & stamp collecting. He was an avid
Braves & Red Sox fan. He enjoyed watching women’s golf and
tennis tournaments on television.
Ken is survived by his loving sister Jean M. Spaulding of
Seabrook, NH and his friend Arthur Haeussler of CA.
Friends
are welcomed to attend a funeral service for Ken in the
Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on
Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 1 PM. Interment to follow in
Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden, MA
In lieu
of flowers, Jean has requested contribution to a charity of one
choice in Ken’s memory.
