Frieda Riley
Frieda (Shmidt) Ragusa - Riley, died Wednesday morning, July 22, 2009 in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, she was 74. Mrs. Riley was born and educated in Germany. She came to the United States over fifty-five years ago and lived in California before moving to Malden. She started a family with her former husband Joseph Ragusa. The couple had five boys and later divorced. In the early 70’s Frieda would meet and later marry her sweetheart Arthur R. Riley in Malden, on July 7, 1975. The couple remained in Malden and continued raising the children. Frieda and Arthur were married for 34 years. Frieda had a fond love for her entire family and loved cooking. For Frieda it was all about her family. She enjoyed the holidays, cooking and sharing time with her friends and family. She is survived by her loving husband Arthur R. Riley of Malden, her loving sons, Stephen Ragusa and his wife Karen of Malden, Michael J. Ragusa, William Ragusa, all of Malden, her loving sister Hilda Smith of New York, cherished grandchildren, Mark, Robert, and Jillian, and her great-granddaughter Elora Rose. She was preceded in death by her sons, Robert Ragusa, and Joseph Ragusa. Visitation will be held in the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Friday July 24th. from 4-8PM, followed by a funeral service celebrating her life at 8 PM in the Weir Funeral Home. Interment will be in Forest Dale Cemetery at a later date.
