 Claire Elizabeth Santoro

 

Claire Elizabeth Santoro,  70, of Nashua, NH, formerly of Malden, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009  in Boston, Massachusetts.  Claire was born and raised in Malden.  She was a graduate of Malden High School. She worked at the Malden Bank for Savings as an administrative assistant.    She worked as the assistant to the President of the bank for many years, retiring at the age of 58. To help keep busy later in life, she worked for her son’s home health care company, processing medical billing.  

At the age of 19, she married her sweetheart, Willard Mayo.  The two settled in Malden to raise their two children.  They shared about 16 years together until Willard’s untimely passing in the early 80’s.    Many years later, Claire found love again and married Edward Santoro  The two were married on aboard the Queen Mary by the Captain of the ship. They have shared over 25 years together, and had settled down together in Nashua, NH. 

Claire was a member of the Lt. Norman Prince VFW Post 1506 in Melrose for over 25 years. She was an avid reader, enjoying all types of different books. She also had a great love for animals, especially cats.

She is survived by her husband Edward of Nashua, NH, her children,  Richard A.  Mayo and his wife Sara S . of Florida, and  Cheryl A. McGrath  of Billerica, her step daughter,  Alaine Sweeney and husband Stephen of NH,  her sister,  Marjorie Bower  of Westboro, her brother,  Clyde M. Taylor of CA, and her grandchildren, Meagan Mayo, Zachary Mayo, and Brianna McGrath, and  Nicole McGrath.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willard Mayo, her parents,  William and Minnie(Crosby)Taylor, and her brothers Donald C. Taylor and William S. Taylor.
