Helen
Ingaborg Sherman
Helen Ingaborg
Sherman (Pearson), 89, a sales clerk for Longs Jewelers,
Boston, where she worked for years, died Thursday, October 4,
2007 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. Helen was born and
raised in W. Roxbury. After high school, she began working for
the John Hancock Life Insurance Company in Boston. She married
her sweetheart, Sumner Sherman before the start of WWII. While
he was in the service, they had lived in Texas, San Diego, and
Florida. After the end of the war, the two returned to Malden
where they settled down to raise their family. Helen soon
took a part time position at Long’s Jewelers in Boston, where
she worked for many years. Helen and her husband Sumner became
members of the First Baptist Church of Malden, and was very
active within the church. She also was a volunteer for many
years with the American Red Cross, assisting with their many
blood drives and flu shots clinics.
She is
survived by her sons, Stanley G. Sherman of Malden, and Gordon
R. Sherman of CT, and her brother, Robert Pearson of
Westwood.
She was
preceded in death by her husband Sumner Sherman, and her
parents, Victor and Josephine (Gothenberg) Pearson.
Funeral
services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 11:00 A.M.
at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden. Rev.
Martha A. Dominy of First Baptist will be officiating. Burial
will be private.
