Georgia R. Sullivan

Georgia
R. (Rogelis) Sullivan died early Sunday morning, August 1, 2010
after a short illness, she was 95. Georgia was born on February
4, 1915 one of seven daughters and 2 sons of the late Michael &
Stella Rogelis. Georgia was born and raised in
Somersworth, NH. The family later moved to Lawrence, MA
Georgia
would meet and later marry her sweet heart Leo P. Sullivan. The
couple was married on December 17, 1934 in Sacred Hearts Church,
Malden. Georgia and Leo started a family and had three children,
Barbara, Frank, and Michael.
In her
early years in Malden Georgia along with her husband Leo worked
for the Boston & Maine Railroad. Georgia's job at that time was gate
tender at the Cross Street railroad crossing in Malden. She
worked this job for many years maintaining the crossing, even in
the winter months keeping the tracks clear of snow. Georgia was
also employed with the Lewis Candy Factory in Malden as a candy
maker and she also worked sewing military patches and stripes on
military uniforms during the war.
Georgia was a co-founder of the
A&A Window
Products, Inc. a company that began in 1954 when Leo and Georgia
Sullivan founded A&A Venetian Blind Company, a commercial blind
washing company. The company changed its name to A&A Window
Products, Inc in 1974. At that point the company serviced
custom residential shades and energy efficient replacement
windows. Georgia was at the family business for over fifty
years.
In her spare time Georgia enjoyed her time spent with her
husband and friends wintering in St. Petersburg, Florida. She
enjoyed crocheting, knitting and loved a good bingo game at St.
Josephs Hall or Malden Catholic School. She enjoyed her time as
a volunteer with the Bread of Life here in Malden. Mrs. Sullivan
was a longtime member of St. Josephs Church in Malden and had
been a resident over seventy-five years.
Georgia is survived by her children, Barbara G. McHugh and
husband Peter J. McHugh, Michael P. Sullivan and wife Marcia J.
Sullivan all of Malden and Frank L. Sullivan and wife Barbara A.
Sullivan of Georgia. She was the cherished grandmother of 10
grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-
grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the
loving sister of eight siblings that passed on before her.

from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in Georgia’s
memory may be made to the Bread of
Life, 511 Main St. Malden, MA 02148.
Georgia’s funeral will be held from the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden
Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Wednesday, August 4,
2010 at 8:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in
St. Josephs Church, 770 Salem St., Malden at 10 AM. Interment to
follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
