Harriet B. Talbot

Harriet Belle Talbot, 85, also known by many as “Auntie” who was a lifelong resident of Malden, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere.  Harriet was born and raised in Malden, the daughter of Howard F. and Catherine (Fisher) Fowler.  She had worked for several downtown Malden businesses, including the Converse Shoe Company, Woolworth’s and Grant’s.  Eventually, a heart condition forced her early retirement.  Harriet was a thirty-two year active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 893, Ladies Auxiliary of Malden.  She served as a trustee for ten years, head trustee for six years, and was privileged to be awarded "Mother of the Year" three times from the organization.  Harriet was always community oriented and also volunteered her time at the Salvation Army.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Talbot, and her sons, David, Curtis “Woody”, and Russell.  Harriet was the last of her brothers and sisters, and is survived by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She loved all of her family and all of her friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11 AM at the Weir- MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden. Visitation will be held at funeral home prior to the service from 9 to 11AM.  Rev. Martha A. Dominy, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Malden will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
