Harriet Belle
Talbot, 85, also known by many as “Auntie” who was a lifelong
resident of Malden, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Lighthouse
Nursing Care Center in Revere. Harriet was born and raised in
Malden, the daughter of Howard F. and Catherine (Fisher)
Fowler. She had worked for several downtown Malden businesses,
including the Converse Shoe Company, Woolworth’s and Grant’s.
Eventually, a heart condition forced her early retirement.
Harriet was a thirty-two year active member of the Fraternal
Order of Eagles, Aerie 893, Ladies Auxiliary of Malden. She
served as a trustee for ten years, head trustee for six years,
and was privileged to be awarded "Mother of the Year" three times
from the organization. Harriet was always community oriented
and also volunteered her time at the Salvation Army.
Harriet was
preceded in death by her husband, William R. Talbot, and her
sons, David, Curtis “Woody”, and Russell. Harriet was the last
of her brothers and sisters, and is survived by many
grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved all of her family
and all of her friends.
Funeral
services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11 AM at the
Weir- MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street,
Malden. Visitation will be held at funeral home prior to the
service from 9 to 11AM. Rev. Martha A. Dominy, Pastor of the
First Baptist Church in Malden will be officiating. Burial will
follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
In lieu of
flowers, contributions in Harriet’s memory may be made to the
charity of one’s choice.
