Richard
Arthur White

Richard
Arthur White, 83, a retired Malden School teacher, passed away
on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital
in Medford, Massachusetts.
He was born in
1927 in Malden, Massachusetts the son of Francis "Frank" and
Mary White. Richard was born and raised in Malden. He left
high school to marry his sweetheart, Rose M. Duggan, at the age
of 17. The two were married in a quiet ceremony in NH. Like
many of his day, he soon was off to help our countries fight in
WWII. He returned from the war in 1946, and returned to his
wife in Malden. Richard was not content in the employment he
was finding, and in his 40's he returned to school. He completed
high school and then attended Northeastern University where he
received his degree in education. He worked as a teacher for
the Immaculate Conception school in Malden for about five years.
He then moved to the Belmont School in Malden, where he taught
5th grade for over 20 years. He retired from the school in
1992.
Richard
enjoyed running, and was a dedicated member of the Malden YMCA.
He also was a very skilled woodworked, and enjoyed that as a
hobby for years.
He is survived
by his wife Rose M. (Duggan) White, his sons, Richard A. White
Jr of Malden, David W. White and wife Marjorie of Stoneham, and Brian M. White and
wife Kim of
Malden, MA, his grandchildren Shaun, Jamie, Brian, Eric, and
Nicole, 8 gt-grandchildren, and
many nieces and nephews.
He was
preceded in death by his Parents, Francis "Frank" and Mary
(Doucette) White, his brothers, George, Robert, David and Frank
White, and his sister, Helen Carberry.
Funeral
services will be held Monday, March 14th, from the
Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home at 8AM followed by a Mass
of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 770
Salem Street, Malden. Burial will be in the Forest Dale
Cemetery in Malden.
Visitation
will be at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home on Sunday, March 13th,
from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
