William Joseph Mini

 

 

William Joseph Mini,  86, a retired  teacher for Malden High School, died Friday, September 04, 2009 at the  Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose.  Bill was born and raised in Malden, MA.  He graduated from Malden High with the Class of 1940.  He enlisted in the US Navy at the onset of WWII, and served until the end of 1943, when he was honorably discharged.  Bill would further his education at Fitchburg State where he received his teaching degree, and later received his Masters Degree from Boston State College.   Bill worked as a teacher throughout his life, including teaching 18 years and Malden High School.  After his retirement he was elected to the Malden School Committee where he served for many years. 

Bill was very involved in Malden, joining the American Legion, Malden DAV, the Italian American Citizens Club, and the Suffolk Square Association, where he served as President.   He also used to write a column for the Malden Evening News called "Then and Now" and for the Malden Advocate, in a column called “Reminiscing with Bill Mini.”  In his spare time Bill enjoyed photography, painting, and enjoying breakfast out with friends.  Mr. Mini was a lifelong resident of Malden.

He was the Beloved husband of Barbara E. (Spencer) of Malden,  devoted father of Ronald A. Mini of Malden, William Mini of Rochester, NY, Christina L. Berg of Salem,NH, John S. Mini of Stoneham, and Steven E .Mini of Malden. Bill was the brother of the late Marie Gramstorff, Joseph M, Mini Sr, Catherine M. Mini, and Dominic J. Mini, and a loving grandfather of 13 and great grandfather of 9. 

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden  on Tuesday, Sept 8th,  from 2 - 6 PM

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Father Paul Aveni of St. Mary's Church will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
