Robert F. Adams
Robert F. Adams, 72, died Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the
Elmhurst Nursing Home in Melrose, MA. Robert was born in
Hackensack, NJ and moved with his parents to Malden where he was
raised and educated in the Malden School system. He continued
his education at the University of Maine. In 1956 he joined the
US Air Force and served in the Korean War. He served most of his
tour at the McGuire Air Force Base in Trenton, NJ and Keeslar
Air Force Base, MS. After the war he served in the US Air Force
Reserve and was discharge as a Staff Sergeant in May of 1960.
Bob's thirty year career as a civil Engineer saw employment with
Dana Perkins Company, Faye Spoffard, the SEA Company and the
Western & Simpson Company in the Boston area. He worked mostly
with water and sewer systems, in the construction industry. Bob
later retired in 1990. He was a life time member of the First
Church in Malden Congregational and an avid bowler and fan of
the church's softball team. Mr. Adams lived in Malden for 72
years.
Bob is survived by his daughter Katrina A. Charles of Kansas
City, MO, his son, John D. Adams of Belmont, and his cherished
grandson Ethan Bartlett.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Cahill, his father
Robert D. Adams, and his mother Cornelia Polmann.
He was born March 8, 1932 in Hackensack, New Jersey, the son of
the late Robert and Cornelia (Polmann) Adams. He served in the
US Air Force during the Korean War having attained the rank of
Staff Sergeant. He enlisted on May 23, 1952 at Boston, MA and
was discharged on May 22, 1956 in Trenton, NJ.
Visitation will be held at the Weir -MacCuish Funeral Home, 144
Salem St., Malden on Tuesday evening from 7-9 PM
Contributions in Bob's memory may be made to the American Cancer
Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham MA 01701.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2004 at 1:30
P.M. in the Chapel of The First Church in Malden,
Congregational,184 Pleasant St., Malden. The Rev. Rebecca Kavich
Girash will be officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Dale
Cemetery in Malden.
