Norman Eugene Ahearn Sr
Norman Eugene Ahearn Sr., 85, a retired millwright for Raytheon
Co. of Andover, MA, where he worked for 27 years, died Thursday,
March 22, 2001 at the Danvers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in
Danvers, MA Mr. Ahearn had lived in Malden for the last 35
years, and was previously from Medford. Norman retired from the
Raytheon Company in 1986. Norman and his wife Irene performed
volunteer work at the Malden Hospital and the former New England
Memorial Hospital in Stoneham for years. He was a member of the
V.F.W. Post # 639 Malden, MA and was a communicant of Sacred
Hearts Church in Malden, MA Norm and his wife Irene have been
married for 61 years.
He is survived by his wife Irene (Carroll) of Malden, two sons,
Norman E. Ahearn Jr. of Shreveport, LA, John M. Ahearn of Salem,
MA, one daughter, Carol M. DeMattia of Malden and two sisters,
Irlene Ahearn of Dorchester and Marion Therrien of Freetown, MA.
He was born September 17, 1915 in Reading, MA and was educated
in the Medford School system. He served in the U.S. Army during
World War II having attained the rank of S/Sgt. He enlisted on
June 7, 1945 at Ft. Devens, MA and was discharged on July 7,
1946 at Ft. Dix, NJ.
Friends and relatives are invited to the visiting hours on
Sunday March 25th. from 5-9 PM at the Weir - MacCuish Golden
Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, MA
A private family prayer service will be held on Monday, at the
Holy Cross Mausoleum. Rev. Daniel J. Hickey, Pastor of Sacred
Heart Church will be officiating. Entombment will be in the Holy
Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
