Elinor L. Ammidown
Elinor L. (Livingstone)
Ammidown, died Monday, March 20, 2006 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after a
long illness, she was 85. Born on January 11, 1921 in Malden, she was the
daughter of the late Neil S. & Etta (Levy) Livingstone. She attended the Malden
schools and later took employment with different retail stores in Malden.
She married her sweetheart Albert Ammidown in 1945 while he was home from leave
during the war.
The couple raised their
two children and would spend over forty-two years together until Albert’s
passing in May of 1987. Elinor later worked for Sparks Department store and
became the store manager working for thirty years in the industry before
retiring in the 1980’s. She was a former member of the Faulkner Methodist Church
in Malden and later with the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Malden.
She was a very active member and was always involved with all aspects of the
church. Elinor had a fond love for cooking and baking. The family holidays were
always held at her house with Elinor preparing 100% of the food.
She is survived
by her daughter Jacquelyn M. Bernson, her son, Richard P. Ammidown and wife
Diane of Colorado, her grandchildren, Nancy Guest, of Georgia, Lois McAllister,
of Virginia, H. Scott Bernson, of Peabody, Terri Ghannan, of Stoneham, Jon
Bernson, of California, Albert Ammidown, of Colorado, Darla Gilgun, of
Tewksbury, Eric Ammidown, of Colorado and twelve great-grandchildren, and one
great- great-grandchild, also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her husband Albert Ammidown, her father, Neil Livingstone, her mother Etta
Levy, her brother, Donald Livingstone and her son-in-law Harold Bernson.
Elinor’s funeral service
will be held on Friday, March 24, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. in the Good Shepherd United
Methodist Church, 577 Salem St., Malden. The Rev. Ruth R. Oduor will be
officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
Relatives and friends are
invited to visiting hours on Thursday March 23rd. from 4-8 PM in the
Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden.
