Ruth Lillian Anderson

    

     Ruth L. (Johnson) Anderson of Malden, formerly of Lynnfield, died May 3, 2007 at the Lawrence Memorial Medical Center in Medford, she was 88.  Born in Melrose on December 6, 1918, she was the daughter of the late C. Albin and Gerda (Anderson) Johnson.  Ruth was raised and educated in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School with the Class of 1936.  After high school, Ruth went to work for the John Hancock Insurance Co. where she was employed as a policy writer.   She eventually left John Hancock and went to work for Caddell and Byers Insurance Co. in Burlington.  Ruth worked there for 29 years until her retirement.  In 1947, Ruth married her sweetheart, Carroll Anderson.  The couple moved to Lynnfield in 1954 and stayed there until December of 2000, when Ruth moved to the Davenport in Malden.  Ruth was a long-time member of the First Lutheran Church in Malden, and was confirmed in 1933. She supported the church in many ways, including making rugs for raffles and baking for various events.  Ruth was also a Member and current (as well as past) Chairman of the Vasa Orden of America in Lynn, the 3 Crowns Lodge.  She was appointed chairman in 1942 and remained active in the club for many years afterwards.  Ruth was a long-time resident of both Malden and Lynnfield,

Ruth is survived by her sister, Eleanor M. Wheeler of Haverhill, MA.

     A graveside committal service will be held in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake Street, Peabody, MA on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 11 AM.  Rev. Angela Freeman, Pastor of the First Lutheran Church in Malden will be officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth’s memory may be made to the Bread of Life, 511 Main St. Malden, MA 02148.
