“Tony” Angelo
Tony Angelo died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Beth Israel
Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, he was 73. Born on August
26, 1935 in East Boston, he was the son of the late Leonardo and
Anna (DiFina) Angelo. Tony was raised and educated in East
Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School. After
school, he went to work as a tool and die maker. Tony was
working with Eastern Tool, located in Saugus both as a worker
and a union representative. Eventually, he left Eastern Tool in
1977 to work fulltime for the then I.U.E. Union as a union
representative. Currently known as Communications Workers of
America / AFL-CIO, Anthony worked as a union representative for
over 25 years until his retirement on July 1, 2002.
On May 22, 1982, Anthony married his sweetheart, Joanne Bellante
in Saugus. After they were married, Tony and Joanne settled
briefly in Everett before making Malden their permanent
residence. Tony had a fondness for his computer, enjoying all
the information he could instantly obtain. His true passions
were cooking and traveling. Tony’s favorite travel spots were
Ogunquit, ME as well as Sicily, Italy.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Angelo of Malden,
his children, Jack Angelo of Oklahoma and John Pellecchia of
Salem, MA, his brother, Pasquale Angelo of East Boston, four
grandchildren, one great-grandchild as well as many loving
nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden, MA on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 9 AM
followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church,
770 Salem Street, Malden, MA at 10 AM. Fr. William J. Minigan,
Pastor of St. Joseph's Church, will be presiding. Burial will
follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Visitation
will be held in the funeral home on Friday, March 20, 2009 from
4 to 8 PM.
