William Joseph
Austin Sr., 79, a longtime resident of Malden, died Friday,
November 24, 2006 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in
Boston. William J. Austin was born and raised in E. Boston in
1927, After high school, Bill enlisted in the US Navy to help
fight in WWII. He served with the "SeaBee's" and was involved
in action in various locations including along the coast of
Alaska. Soon after he returned from the service, he settled in
the Malden area, and began working for the Stride Rite Shoe
Company. He was involved with the warehouse operations and
after over 40 years with the company, he retired as a Warehouse
Supervisor. Bill attended the Immaculate Conception Church in
Malden, and was also an avid fan of professional wrestling. Mr.
Austin lived in Malden, Massachusetts for the past 48 years in
Malden and was previously from East Boston.
He is survived
by his former wife Angela "Cora" Powers, his sons William
Austin Jr. of North Reading, Richard J. Austin of Revere, Keith
F. Austin of Malden, his daughters Audrey Lutkevitch of
Malden, and Paula Austin of Malden, his son Sean Austin of NH,
and his grandchildren, Daniel, Stephen, Andrew, Derek, Shane,
Alyson, Ryan, and Laura.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard J.
Austin, and his sisters, Maude McWilliams, Rita McWilliams,
Muriel Baldwin, and Geraldine Feretti.
Visitation
will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street,
Malden, on Monday, November 27th, from 4-8 PM
Funeral
services will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 11:00 A.M.
at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home. Burial will be follow in
the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
