Dorothy Flora Babin

Dorothy Flora Babin, 79, a housewife, died Friday evening, December 20, 2002 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA after a short illness. Dorothy was educated in the Malden school system and was a life long resident of Malden. She and her husband Joseph were married in the Sacred Hearts Church in Malden in 1948. They raised their family in Malden and were married for 42 years until Joseph's passing in November 1990. Dorothy was fond of sewing and reading nutrition books to keep herself and her family healthy. Dorothy worked for the Malden Novelty Co in Malden for 2 years. She was a communicant of Sacred Hearts Church for many years.

She is survived by Jean Coyne (daughter) of Woburn, Patrick Coyne (son-in-law) of Woburn, Susan Gerniglia (daughter) of Londonderry, NH, Robert Gerniglia (son-in-law) of Londonderry, NH, Diane Shea (daughter) of Malden, David Shea (son-in-law) of Malden, Eugene "Jr." Sweeney (brother) of Malden, John Sweeney (brother) of Peabody, Alice Gardner (sister) of Hampstead, NH, Joan Moynihan (sister) of Malden, Brian, and Scott, Gina (grandchildren).

She was preceded in death by her father Eugene Sweeney, her mother Flora Boudreau, her husband Joseph "Sam" Babin, and her brother Arthur "A J" Sweeney.

She was born November 3, 1923 in Melrose, MA the daughter of the late Eugene and Flora (Boudreau) Sweeney.

Visitation will be held at the Weir- MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Monday December 23, 2002 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main St., Malden, on Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at 9:00 A.M. Fr. Daniel J. Hickey of Sacred Hearts Church will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
