Jay George Bainbridge

 

   Jay G.  Bainbridge died Saturday afternoon, December 2, 2006 at his home in Kankakee, Illinois, ending a courageous battle against ALS. At his bedside, was his loving and merciful niece Erica Cyr and friend John Dousharm, he was 53. Born in Malden on January 17, 1953 he was the loving son of Mabel F. (VanBuskirk) Bainbridge of Malden and the late John G. Bainbridge.  

   Jay was a master electrician and licensed and award winning ham radio operator. His major passion and pastime was his ham radio. His call sign was N9LCR. He loved conversing with people all around the world, in his radio shack. On Monday, Jay’s call signal,  N9LCR signed off for the last time for all his friends everywhere. Jay was known to have a great sense of humor and lived his life  the way he wanted.  Jay was formerly from Peabody and Malden and had lived in Kankakee, IL for over ten years.

   Jay is survived by his mother Mabel F. (VanBuskirk) Bainbridge of Malden, his sister Carol Hermenau of Portsmouth, NH, his nephews, Bruce Hermenau of Strafford, NH & Keven Hermenau of Stratham NH; his niece Erica Cyr of Kankakee Il, his uncle Leslie VanBuskirk and his wife Christine of Burlington, his aunt Marjorie VanBuskirk of Burlington, widow of his uncle Raymond VanBuskirk and his cousins, great nephews and nieces. 

   Jay’s funeral will be held from the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 11AM followed by a   Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church, 770 Salem St., Malden at 12 noon. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
