Arthur H. Barchard
Arthur H. Barchard, 75, a retired bus driver for MBTA, where
he worked for 22 years, died Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at
Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester, MA. Arthur was born and
raised in Malden, graduating from Malden High with the class of
1947. He served a tour of duty with the Army National Guard
after high school and also began working at General Electric at
that time. Later he took employment with the MBTA as a bus
driver, and joined the Carmen's Union Local 589. He stayed
employed with the MBTA until a disability forced his early
retirement in 1986. He was a communicant of Sacred Hearts Church
in Malden, a member of the East Side AA, and was an avid fan of
our local sports teams. Mr. Barchard was a life long resident of
Malden.
He is survived by his wife Jo-An Barchard of Malden, his son
Kevin Barchard of Medford, his daughters Charlotte G. Siuda of
Malden, Cathleen M. Murdocca of Wakefield, Cynthia G. Andreotti
of Everett and Julianne & Jo-An Barchard both of Revere. Brother
of Arnold Barchard of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of eleven
grandchildren, one great granddaughter and many nieces and
nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Earnest Barchard, and his
mother Bertha Henderson.
He was born March 8, 1929 in Malden, the son of the late Earnest
and Bertha (Henderson) Barchard.
Visitation will be held at the Weir- MacCuish Golden Rule
Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9
PM.
Funeral from the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home,144
Salem St, Malden on Monday, at 8AM followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main St., Malden
at 9AM. Fr. Daniel J. Hickey, Pastor of Sacred Hearts Church
will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Forest Dale Cemetery,
Malden.
