Eleanor Rose Basile
Eleanor Rose Basile, 81, a longtime resident of Malden, died
Thursday, July 08, 2004 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in
Melrose. Eleanor was born in Jamaica Plain, and at an early age
she moved to Malden. She attended school in Malden, and
graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1942.
Immediately after high school, she began working at the Naval
Ship Yard in Boston as a bookkeeper. Throughout the years, she
also worked as a bookkeeper at Palmer Severini, and for the
family business, the William DeFranzo Trucking Co.
Eleanor was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Malden. She
enjoyed sewing and needlework, as well as gardening. She also
had gained a reputation for being an excellent cook, which
coincided with her being very fond of cooking.
She is survived by her husband Canio J. Basile of Malden, MA,
her son William L. and his wife Mary DeFranzo of Malden, and his
grandchildren, Gina M. Votour of Chelmsford, Robert A. DeFranzo
of Malden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Anna (Ciasullo)
DiGiacomo, her husband, William P. DeFranzo, and her second
husband, Merito Breda Jr..
Visitation will be held at the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral
Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Sunday from 5-8 PM
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 12, 2004 at 8:00 A.M.
at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at
9:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Malden. Rev. William J.
Minigan, Pastor of St. Joseph's Church will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
