Anthony Tony Bonamo
Anthony Tony Bonamo, 83, died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at
the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, MA. Tony was born and
educated in Malden and when W.W. II broke out he enlisted in the
U.S. Navy where he served in the Asiatic and Pacific Theatres
for five years before his discharge. He then operated his own
canteen truck for several years, feeding the construction
workers on the Mystic River Bridge. He then went to work for
Lewis Candy Co. of Malden as a candy maker and was employed
there for over thirty years. Tony was an animal rights activist
and was constantly caring for stray animals at his home. He
would often go to considerable efforts to locate the rightful
owners of the strays that he would take in. Mr. Bonamo was a
lifelong resident of Malden.
He is survived by his brothers; John Bonamo , Joseph Bonamo and
Samuel Bonamo all of CA, his sister Jeanne Santoro of Malden and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his special friend Rose Stuart, his
brother Maurice Bonamo, his brother Robert Bonamo, his sister
Dorothy Coyle, and his sister Stella Clark.
He was born October 11, 1921 in Malden, MA the son of the late
Samuel and Anna (Bowen) Bonamo. He served in the Navy during
World War II having attained the rank of Ship's Cook 2nd class.

Visitation will be held at the Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden on Sunday from 4-7 PM
Funeral from the funeral home on Monday, October 18, 2004 at
9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. in St.
Joseph's Church, 770 Salem Street Malden at 10:00 A.M with Rev.
William J. Minigan, Pastor of St. Joseph's Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery in Everett.
