Roland J. Bourgea

Bourgea, Roland J., 83, a long time resident of Malden, passed
away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 25th, in the
presence of his loving family. Roland was born in 1924 in
Rumford Maine, the son of Henry and Eva (Fournier) Bourgea.
After high school, Roland enlisted in the US Army to help fight
in WWII. At the end of WWII, Roland returned to Rumford, Maine.
In 1951, while in Rumford, he married his sweetheart, Alfreda M.
Theriault. The two shared 50 years together until Alfreda's
passing in 2001.
In 1953, Roland and Alfreda came to Malden to raise their
family. They became members of the Sacred Hearts Church on Main
Street in Malden. Roland took employment with the Winthrop
Printing Co., in South Boston. He worked there as a binder for
25 years until his retirement in 1988.
Roland is survived by his sons, Paul R. Bourgea of Bridgewater,
and John J. Bourgea of Malden, his sisters, Theresa Mercier and
Rita Arsenault, both of Rumford Maine, as well as 6
grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Roland is preceded in death by his wife, Alfreda (Theriault)
Bourgea, and his daughter, Anne M. Good, formerly of Somerville.
A memorial Mass will celebrated for Roland on Thursday, Aug
30th, at 11 AM in the Sacred Hearts Church, 197 Main Street,
Malden. Interment will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park,
Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Roland's memory
may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street,
Framingham, MA, 01701.
