Sgt. David B. Brooks
Sgt. David Barton Brooks, 57,
a police officer for City of Malden, where he worked for almost 30 years, died
Friday, July 14, 2006 at his home in Wakefield, David was born in Lynn, and
raised and educated in Malden. He graduated from Malden High School with the
class of 1967. After high school, he attended Bentley College and Salem State
College where he studied criminal justice. He later earned his Master's Degree
in Criminal Justice from Western New England College. In 1977, David joined the
Malden Police Department. He served nearly 30 years with the department, and
was currently a Sergeant. He enjoyed being on the force, and the comradery he
shared with his fellow police officers.
Dave was an avid motorcycle
enthusiast. This led him to working Motorcycle details for the police
department, and for a time he rode with the Blue Knights. He also enjoyed
taking rides on his bike around New England. Dave was an impulsive trip taker
as well, scheduling trips with little notice. He enjoyed boating, as well as
snow skiing and was a dedicated member of the Irish Amercian Club of Malden.
He is survived by his mother,
Barbara A. (Shirran) Brooks of Malden, his brother, William Brooks of Spring,
TX, his sisters, Barbara L. Harris of Tewksbury, and Pamela DiMente of
Billerica, MA, as well as 9 nieces and nephews, and 8 grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by
his father Lawrence B. Brooks.
Visitation will be held at
Weir Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Tuesday, July 18th,
from 4 - 8 PM

Funeral services will be held
Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral
Home. Rev. Randall P. Ferrara of The First Church in Malden, Congregation will
be officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn.
