June Carney

    

     June (Larkin) Carney of Malden died on January 11, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family, she was 89.  Born on June 24, 1917 in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lucinda (White) Carney.  June was raised and educated in Melrose and was a graduate from Melrose High School with the Class of 1935.  June married her sweetheart, John F. Carney on September 19, 1937.  The couple moved to Malden and spent over 48 years in marriage together, raising and caring for their family, until John’s passing in1985.  June had worked part time for over ten years for the Malden Trust Co., which eventually became Eastern Bank Co.  However, June’s fulltime job was taking care of her family and home.  June was a past member of St. Anne's Guild and also served many years as president of the Forestdale Community Association.  June was also a long time member of the Forest Dale Community Church. 

     June is survived by her son, Wayne P. Carney and his wife, Denise L. of Malden, her daughter, Diane R. and her husband, Robert C. DeBendictis of Malden, her sisters, Shirley Simpson of Wakefield and Rae Kidd of Jacksonville, FL, her grandchildren, Susan L. Ash of Danvers, Christine Proctor of Malden, Wayne P. Carney, Jr. of Worcester, Nancy L. Barrett of Dedham, John C. DeBenedictis of East Boston, Steven P. DeBenedicitis of Saugus, and Michael R. DeBenedictis of Lynnfield as well as eleven great-grandchildren.

     A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in the Forestdale Community Church, 235 Forest St. Malden at 10AM.  Rev. Paul C. McPheeters, Pastor of Forestdale Community Church will be officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.

Visitation will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home 144 Salem St. Malden on Monday, January 15, 2007 from 4-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in June’s memory to the Hallmark Health Hospice, 100 Hospital Road, Malden, MA 02148.
