Rita Ann D'Amaral

 

 Rita Ann D'Amaral,  68, a  longtime resident of Malden,  Rita was born and raised in Somerville.  After completing her education she went to work for Samtam Engineering in Malden.  She soon married her sweetheart, Voltaire D'Amaral, and the two would eventually settle in Malden where they raised their family.  Even after her children had grown, she continued her role as a care giver, taking care of both her mother and her aunt as their health deteriorated. 

Rita was a member of Sacred Hearts Church in Malden, and enjoyed crafts, including crocheting and making exquisite doll dresses, but her greatest joy came from caring for her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

She is survived by her husband, Voltaire  M. D'Amaral of Malden,  her sons, Michael J. D'Amaral of Malden, William D'Amaral  of Everett, Richard A. D'Amaral  of Malden, her daughter, Diana M. Thibert  of Billerica, her brother,  William Banda, Jackie Banda of CA,  of Malden, his sister, Diane Hayes of Malden, as well as 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents,  Michael Donahue and  Olive T.( Valerio), her  daughter Branda L. D'Amaral, , her brother Joseph J. Donahue, and her aunt Emily Valerio.

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Wednesday, July 12th,  from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 8:00 A.M. at the funeral home and  9:00 A.M. at Sacred Hearts Church. Fr. Daniel J. Hickey of Sacred Hearts Church will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
