Merrill Elliott Damon

Merrill E. Damon, a life long resident of  Malden, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007 at his most recent home in Thorntown, IN.  He was 68.  Born on July 9, 1938, in Malden, he was the son of the late Ralph Damon, Sr. and Harriet (Yeo) Damon.  Merrill was raised and educated in Malden.  He was a graduate of Malden High School.  After school, Merrill enlisted into the U.S. Navy on the USS Saratoga.  During his service time, Merrill learned the vocation of welding.  When he was discharged from the service, he started up his own welding business, M.E.D. Welding, which he operated for over 40 years in Everett, until he retired due to health problems.  In 2003, he and his wife Marjorie J. (Berard) Damon moved to Thorntown, IN.  Merrill was an active member of the Buick Club of America and the Antique Truck Historical Society, and an antique car/truck enthusiast.

Merrill is survived by his wife Marjorie J. Damon of Thorntown, IN, his children, Wendy Lee Damon of Malden, Jody Ann Repici of Saugus, and Mark Damon of Malden, his siblings, Gertrude Blomerth and Ralph Damon, both of Medford, and his grandchildren, Cameron, Kelsey, Casey, and Haley Repici, and Diana, Mark, and Tayla Damon. 

Friends and relatives are invited to meet at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 10 AM.  A funeral procession will follow to Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.  Funeral services will be held graveside at 11 AM.  Rev. Daniel Weaver, Epping, NH, will be officiating.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday, February 23, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.

Contributions in Merrill’s memory may be made to the Hospice VNS Foundation, 4701 N. Keystone Ave., Indianapolis, IN  46205.
