Edward Dean
Edward Dean,
96, of Malden, died Monday, November 12, 2007 at the
Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. Edward was a long time
resident of Malden. He grew up in the Golden Hills section of
Saugus. After completing his education, he joined the CCC works
project. His group helped in the construction of Ft. Devens.
In the early 40's, he went to work at the Boston Naval
Shipyard. He worked there as a sandblaster for over 30 years,
and retired shortly before the closing of the shipyard. He was
an accomplished athlete while he was younger, a boxer and a
wrestler, and he also ran many marathons. From his youth, he
was also an extremely devoted Red Sox fan, and would arrange his
day to enable him to either watch or listen almost every game.
He is survived
by Edwin Dean (son) of NY, Margaret Wilson (daughter) of
Pepperell, as well as 7 grandchildren and 10 great
grandchildren.
He was
preceded in death by his wife Virginia Chopoorian, his parents,
Herbert H. and Susie (Sherman) Dean, his all his brother and
sisters, Chester Dean, Herbert Dean, Dorothy Conway, Liz Dean,
Sarah Jones, Abbie Templehoff, and Sally Dean.
Visitation
will be held at Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden, on Thursday, Nov 15th, from 4
- 8 PM
Funeral
services will be held Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 11:00 A.M.
at the Weir MacCuish Funeral Home. Rev. Ruth R. Oduor of Good
Shepherd United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial
will be in the Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington
