Edward Matthias Del Vecchio, 58, a  longtime resident of Malden, passed away on  Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose.  Ed was born in Malden, and spent much of his childhood growing up in Melrose and Ipswich.  He graduated from Ipswich High School with the class of 1966.  Ed was a cab driver in Boston for over 25 years, and he enjoyed the independence and variety that driving a cab gave him.  He was a quiet person who enjoyed sports and music and taking care of his cats.  He was also a "car buff" who was especially proud of his BMW.

He is survived by his sister Michelle A. and her husband John P.
