Sarah “Shug” Drummond
Sarah
“Shug” (Culbreath) Drummond, of Lynn, formerly of Malden, died suddenly, on May
19, 2006 at her home in Lynn, she was 56. Born on Oct. 12, 1949 in Chester, PA,
Sarah was the cherished daughter of Mary L. (Curry) Culbreath of Chester, PA and
the late Charlie Culbreath. She was educated in the Chester-Upland School
District, Chester, PA and after high
school moved to the Boston area and later met and married her sweet heart Melvin
A. Drummond, on May 8, 1980 in Boston. The couple stayed in Boston and later
moved to Malden were they lived for the last twenty years.
Sarah was a
licensed beautician and entrepreneur in the early 1980's owning her
own hair salon in Roxbury, and renting
out chairs to other hairdressers.. In her later years she put
herself through nursing school while still working and became a Certified Nurses
Aide. She had been working at the Annemark Nursing and Rehabilitation in Revere
for the last few years. Sarah’s favorite past time was shopping and caring for
her family. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother and
great-grandmother and a loving niece of many aunts and uncles and nieces and
nephews. She was very much loved and will be missed by her family and fellow
co-workers at the Annemark.
She leaves
her life's memory to her beloved husband to cherish: Melvin A. Drummond, her daughter Princess Anderson of Saugus,
Terence Culbreath of Lynn and Daniel Drummond of Roxbury, her mother Mary L.
(Curry) Culbreath of PA, her siblings, Martha Culbreath of Camden, NJ, Wallace
Callahan of Chester, PA, Evangelist Betty McCormick and her husband Theodore of
Wayne, PA, her cherished grandchildren, Onawa Culbreath, Omar Culbreath, Dereck
Small, Chatay Bennett, as well as six other grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren. She was a loving niece to many aunts & uncles and nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
her father Charlie Culbreath, her brother John Curry, and her sister Patricia
(Culbreath) Falls.
Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on
Friday, May 26, 2006 from 9 AM- 11 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11AM in
the funeral home. Evangelist Betty McCormick of the Cathedral of Faith Baptist
Church of Philadelphia, PA will be officiating. Burial will follow in Holy
Cross Cemetery, Malden.
