Roy George
Finn
Roy G. Finn, 88,
died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, MA after a short illness. Roy
was born in Malden and educated in the Malden School system. He
was a graduate of Malden High Class of 1935. After high school he
worked for the City of Malden as a custodian at the Malden High
School. He later
joined the U.S. Navy
and attained the rank
of Electrician Mate 3Class, he received the World War II
Victory Medal, American Area Ribbon, the Philippine
Liberation Ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific
Area Ribbon. He was discharged in December 1945.
After the war he returned to his position at the high
school and was employed over forty years and later retired in
1977. In Roy’s
honor of being
the founder of the Golden Tornado Club of Malden
and his devoted years at the Malden High School, the city
dedicated the new
gymnasium in his name.
Roy was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church
in Malden and was a Third Degree Knight with the Knight of
Columbus of Malden.
He was also a member of the VFW # 639 and the American Legion #69
of Malden. Roy was a
life long fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Mr. Finn lived in Melrose and was previously from Malden.
He is survived by his son’s Peter R. Finn of Winthrop and
wife Marie, Paul D. Finn of Melrose and wife Marian, and his
daughter Maryann Finn of
Saugus, his brothers James Finn of Melrose, John Finn of Peabody,
and his sister’s Mary Burke of Beverly, Anna Fitzgerald of
Malden, Peggy McBride of Stoneham, his cherished grandchildren
Lori, Pamela, Patrick, Kristen, Courtney, Paul, Alison, Meaghan,
Christopher and his great-granddaughter’s Hanna, Gillian.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine D.
(O’Laughlin) Finn and his
father George H. Finn, his mother Anna F. (Sheehan) Finn , and his
brother David Finn.
He was born April 29, 1916 in Malden, MA the son of the
late George and Anna (Sheehan) Finn.
Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Golden Rule
Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden
on Sunday, October 24th. from 2-4
& 7-9 PM.

Funeral
from the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St.,
Malden on Monday, Oct. 25th. at
9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the
Immaculate Conception Church, Rt. 60 Malden at 10AM. Fr. Walter
Cuenin will be the celebrant; Burial will be in the Wyoming
Cemetery in Melrose.
