Sheldon Wallace Graves

Sheldon Wallace Graves,  91, died Sunday, January 25, 2004 at Pilgrim Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Peabody, Massachusetts.  Sheldon was born in Woburn, and at an early age he moved to Malden where he was raised and educated.  Shortly after high school, he married his sweetheart E. Priscilla Glazier, and the two would share the next 70 years together.  Sheldon was a contractor for many years, during which he had formed and managed two construction companies, the S.W. Graves Co, in Newton, and International Floor and Wall, also in Newton.   He also was very active with the Floor Covers Union, Local #2168, having joined in 1941 and  serving as President of the Union. 

He is survived by his daughters Eleanor M. Lyons and her husband Walter of Malden, Betty G. Bender and her husband Joseph of Melrose, Phyllis A.  Snow of  Malden his son Lee S. Graves and his wife  Margaret of Rumney, NH, 12 grandchildren and 18 great – grandchildren, his sister Grace Abel (sister) of Andover, his sister-in-law Barbara Graves of Stoneham  brothers-in-law Robert Tyler of Stoneham and Russell Glazier of TX, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Priscilla (Glazier), his parents, Edwin and Grace (Boynton) Graves.  Elmer Graves of FL, Edwin Graves of Malden, Bernard Graves of Hamilton, Robert Graves of Stoneham, Adele Littlewood of Wakefield, Mildred Sanborn of NH, and Claire Tyler of Stoneham. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at Weir - Mac Cuish  Funeral Home. Pastor Gary L. Mc Clenthen of Maplewood Baptist Church will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Puritan Lawn  Memorial Park in Peabody. Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Tuesday, January 27th from 5-8 PM.

Donations in Sheldon’s memory may made to the Living Memorial Fund, Maplewood Baptist Church, 729 Salem St. Malden, MA 02148.
