Eleanor Rose Hagan
Eleanor Rose Hagan, 81, a
longtime resident of Malden, died Friday, August 5, 2005 at Lawrence Memorial
Hospital in Medford. Eleanor was born and raised in Chelsea, where she attended
the St. Rose School growing up. After high school, she attended comptometer
school, where she learned to use accounting tools and practices. In 1944, she
married her sweetheart, Arthur J. Hagan, and the two would share the next 61
years together raising their family and traveling around the world. Before
retiring about 20 years ago, Eleanor had been working in the accounting
department for Stone and Webster Engineering in Boston for over 15 years.
Eleanor was a communicant of
St. Josephs Church. She loved to travel with her husband, and had spent
significant time on Cape Cod and Florida, as well as enjoying an occasional trip
to Ireland.
She is survived by her husband
Arthur J. Jr, of Malden, MA, her son Dennis Hagan of Burlington, her
daughter, Joanne Geddry of FL, her son, Daniel Hagan of Derry, and NH, her
daughter, Luanne Hagan of Malden, her dear friend, Nancy Lunt of Billerica, as
well as 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her father John Gillespie, her mother Josephine Toomey, her son Richard Hagan,
and her brothers, Thomas, Leo, John, Cornelius, , and Paul Gillespie.
Visitation will be held at
Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Sunday, August, 7,
from 5 - 8 PM
Funeral services will be held
from the funeral home on Monday, August 8, at 9:00 A.M. for a Mass of Christian
Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden. Rev.
William J. Minigan, Pastor of St. Joseph's Church will be the celebrant. Burial
will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
