Robert Elmer Hamilton

Robert E. Hamilton,  86, died Tuesday,  February 6th., 2001 at his home  in Malden, MA after a long  illness. Mr. Hamilton was born  and educated in South Boston.  He later moved to Charlestown and then  Somerville for 25 years and finely residing in Malden for the last 33 years.

Mr. Hamilton was a truck driver for the former Friends Lumber Co., in Medford for 32 years  until his retirement in 1978. He was  a member of  Local # 25  of the Truckers Drivers  Union.  He loved taking long walks  and talking to different people along the way.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne M. ( Royland) Hamilton, his daughter, Shirley  A. MacDonald  of  Chelmsford, his son, Allan  F. Hamilton  of  Malden, his daughter, Geraldine  E. Slater  of  Winchester, his daughter,  Eileen  F. Hamilton  of  Malden, his sisters, Ruth Marshall  of  Somerville &  Geraldine Miller  of Chelmsford. Also survived by 15 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sons, David   K. Hamilton formerly of  Malden,  Leo  J. Hamilton formerly of Brookline,  Paul  E. Hamilton formerly of Ohio and  Robert  E. Hamilton Jr. formerly of Winthrop, his father, Frederick  Hamilton and  his mother Elizabeth (Keough), his brothers, Frederick Hamilton formerly of Watertown , Arthur and Albert Hamilton  both formerly of Somerville.

He was born October 5, 1914 in South  Boston, MA  the son of late Frederick and Elizabeth (Keough) Hamilton.     

Visitation will be held at Weir -MacCuish Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4  & 7-9 PM.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 9, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at Weir- MacCuish Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel J. Hickey, Pastor of Sacred Heart Church will be officiating.  Cremation will follow  in the Mt. Auburn Crematory in Cambridge.
