Mary Ella Hare
Mary E. Hare, of
Malden, died Tuesday morning September 12, 2006 at the Lahey Clinic, in
Burlington with her family at her side, she was 74. Mary was born in Everett on
January 20, 1932, the daughter of the late Joseph V. and Edith H. (Symes) Hare.
Mary was raised in
Malden along with her loving sister Ann. She was educated in the Malden school
system and was a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1950. After her
graduation, Mary was employed with the former New England Telephone Co. and
later AT & T in the accounting department in Boston. She worked there for over
forty years until her retirement in 1990. She was also a longtime member of the
Pioneers Club
She was a lifelong and
devoted member of St. Luke's Parish in Malden where she worked in the thrift
shop and helped out with the church’s accounting. She was also very active in
all church activities. In her spare time, she loved bowling, reading, and
watching television. She loved traveling with her family and trips to
Newfoundland and her summer vacations at Old Orchard Beach, Maine and trips to
Foxwoods. Mary was very active with her nieces, nephews and grandnieces and
grandnephews. Mary loved caring and being involved with all her family.
She is survived by her
loving sister Ann E. Goossens and her husband, William R. Goossens of
Burlington. Cherished aunt of Mary Ann Hernandez of FL, David J. Goossens of FL,
Robert W. Goossens of Methuen, Joan M. Doran of Halifax and Nancy J. Meehan of
Woburn and fourteen grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral from the
Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Saturday,
Sept. 16, 2006 at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke’s
Parish, 388 Lynn St., Malden at 10 AM. The Rev. Charles Moore will be the
celebrant. Burial will immediately follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden
Visitation will be held in
the funeral home on Friday, September 15, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
In lieu of flowers
contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to St. Luke's Parish, Memorial Fund,
388 Lynn St., Malden.
