Marion Teresa Howell, 87, of
Melrose, formerly of Malden and Dorchester, died Thursday, June 01, in
Somerville. Marion was born and raised in Boston. She graduated from Roxbury
High School with the class of 1936. A few years later, in 1941, Marion married
her sweetheart, Murray E. Howell, and the two settled in Dorchester to raise
their four children. They shared nearly 50 years together until Murray's
passing in 1987. The family had moved to Malden in 1967, and resided in
the West End until 1983, when they retired to Melrose. During their years
in Malden, Marion had also worked for the Prudential Life Ins.

Marion was a longtime active
member of the First Baptist Church of Malden, a member of 200 Club of Malden, a
member of the Clark Fellowship, as well as many other groups. In her spare
time, she enjoyed gardening and swimming, she cherished the time she got to
spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren on Chappaquiddick
She is survived by her sons,
Paul C. Howell and his wife Betty (Troderman) of Montreal, Canada, Douglas W. Howell
and his wife Donna (Bernhard) of Pleasanton, CA,
John E. Howell
very dear friend
Margaret Bassett of Manhatten, NY, her daughter, Nancy S. Trane
and her husband Robert of
Somerville, MA as well as 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her husband Murray, her parents, Joseph and Ethelyn (Richardson) Naugler,
her sister Esther J. Naugler, and her brother Stearns Naugler.
Visitation will be held
Sunday, June 4th at the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden, from 4-8 PM
Funeral services will be held
in the funeral home at 10AM on Monday, June 5th. Rev. Martha A.
Dominy of First Baptist Church, Malden, will be officiating. Burial will
follow in the Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.

contributions in Marion's memory may be made to the Sancta Maria Nursing
