Patti A. Hoyte

Patti A. Hoyte, 89, died Friday, October 19, 2001 after a brief illness, at the Youville Hospital & Rehabilitation Center in Cambridge, MA.  Patti was born and educated in Malden and graduated from Girls High School in Boston. She continued her education at Virginia Union College in Richmond, VA. When she completed her education she returned to Malden and married her husband Oscar H. Hoyte in 1933. During the war years she was employed at the Watertown Arsenal but was primarily a homemaker devoted to raising her family and providing her children a warm and loving environment.  Mrs. Hoyte lived in Malden, MA all of her life.

She is survived by her children, Barbara F. Armstrong of Malden, Dr. Arthur H. Hoyte of Washington, DC, James S. Hoyte of Lexington,  Ralph Hoyte of W. Peabody, , Patti Frazier of Malden, twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar H. Hoyte of Malden, her brothers, Edward Ridley, and Herbert Ridley, her sisters, Natalie Ridley, and Eloise Ridley all of Malden.

She was born July 06, 1912 in Malden, MA the daughter of the late Arthur R. and Ida (Coleman) Ridley. When her mother died, at an early age, she was raised by Arthur’s second wife the late Pearl (Duval) Ridley. 

Contributions in Patti’s memory may be made to the Arthur H. Hoyte Scholarship Fund c/o Georgetown University School of Medicine, 3900 Reservoir Rd., N.W. Washington, DC 20007-2197.

Visitation will be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 20 Hillside Ave., Malden on Tues. Oct. 23rd  from 2-4 & 7-8 PM

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at 8:00 P.M. at the  Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Whittaker officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden on Weds. Oct 24th. The procession for the internment service will form at the church at 9:30 AM and leave for the cemetery promptly at 10:00 AM
