Alfred Raymond Hudson Jr.

Alfred R. “Tex” Hudson Jr.,  65, a retired deputy sheriff ,passed away Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the Youville Hospital & Rehabilitation Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  Alfred R. "Tex"  was born in Houston Texas, where he was raised and educated.  After completing high school, he came to Massachusetts where he attended Fisher College and received a degree in Business Management.  Following his graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served for 11 years.  He served during the Vietnam War, and during his tour, he had served proudly and honorably aboard the USS Delta and the USS Wasp.  After his discharge in 1968, he returned to the Boston Area.  Tex joined the Middlesex Sheriffs Department in June of 1982, and retired from the department as a Deputy Sheriff this past February, due to health reasons.  During his time with the Sheriffs Dept, he was recognized for his skill as an expert marksman.   He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. Post 85 of Malden, and also longtime member of the VFW of Dorchester.  Alfred was a skilled leather craftsman, and enjoyed making everything from gun holsters to guitar straps by hand.   Mr. Hudson Jr. lived in Malden, Massachusetts for 11 years and was previously a longtime resident of Woburn.

He is survived by his wife, Carol S. (Charshoodian)  of Malden, his daughters, Sandra Hudson  of Medford, Kimberly and husband Charles  Proctor  of Dracut, and Dawn Hudson of Uxbridg, his step daughters, Pamela Fields of Brookline, Brenda  and husband Scott Dalrymple  of Everett, as well as 6 grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents,  Alfred R. & Valecia (Loomis) Hudson, his first wife,  Sandra P. Hudson, and his brother James Hudson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2005 at  1:00 P.M. at the Weir MacCuish Funeral Home. Rev. Jan Matter will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, MA  on Sunday from 4-9 PM
