Madeline Yvonne Hughes
Madeline Y. (Doucette) Hughes of Malden died Sunday December 23, 2007 at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford, she was 75. Born on December 4, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Elia and Margaret (Doucette). Mrs. Hughes was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, and came to the states at the age of 16. She settled in Malden with her family and later married William H. Hughes on May 26, 1961 in the First Baptist Church in Malden. They remained in Malden and raised their daughter Laura. Madeline was a life-long member and the past president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, American Legion Post # 69 of Malden as well as an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #639 in Malden. She is survived by her husband William H. Hughes, Jr. and her daughter, Laura L. McLaughlin, and her husband, Patrick, of Zebulon, NC, her three cherished grandsons, as well as several cousins in Canada. Funeral services will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 11AM. Fr. David Meskell will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
