Helen I.
(Torgersen) Jakobsen, 87, died Thursday evening, April 7, 2005
at Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. Helen was born
and educated in Malden, graduating with the Class of 1936. After
high school Helen was employed with the Merchants National Bank
in Boston as a bookkeeper for thirteen years. She would meet and
later marry her sweet heart, Jon Jakobsen in 1945. The couple
settled in Malden and raised their three daughters. Helen was a
longtime active member of the Christ United Methodist Church and
past president of the Women’s Group. She had a love for sewing,
baking breads and was a good cook. This talent involved her in
the buying and preparation for church suppers and other church
socials. Helen was always actively involved with the church fund
raising events. Mrs. Jakobsen had been a resident of Malden for
over seventy-five years and had lived in Stoneham, for the last
twelve years.
She is
survived by her husband Jon Jakobsen, her three daughters,
Irene H. Maggio and husband Peter of Methuen, Janice K. Ronzio
and husband Peter of Medford and
Nancy J. Hanson and husband Paul of Melrose, her brother Norman Torgersen of
NC and her sister Mildred Christie of Lynn. She was the
cherished grandmother of Matthew and Nicholas Maggio, Jonathan
Ronzio, Christie Ronzio, Erika Hanson, Kyle Hanson, Karina
Hanson.
She was
preceded in death by her father Alex Torgersen, and her mother
Astrid Jensen.
Visitation
will be held at Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144
Salem St., Malden, on Sunday, April 10th. from 4-8

Funeral
services will be held Monday, April 11, 2005 at 11AM in the Christ United Methodist Church, 577 Salem St., Malden. The Rev.
Ruth R. Oduor will be officiating. Burial will be in the Forest
Dale Cemetery in Malden.
