Dorothy Priscilla Jewell

   

Dorothy " Dot"  Jewell,  92, died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, MA.  Dorothy was born  and educated in Malden  and was a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1929.  She continued her education at Burdett College taking business courses and later worked as a bookkeeper and payroll agent for a Boston  firm. She later married and moved to Melrose with her family.  Dot worked as a nurses aid for the former Malden Nursing Home, on Clifton St., Malden for many years and retired in 1976. Dot moved to the Heritage House in Malden and was a resident for twenty-eight years.

She was an active resident that loved to attend different coffee hours, shows and holiday dinners and function at the Heritage. She was a very independent women and was well liked at the complex. She loved crocheting, reading and watching old movies. Dot was fond of Elvis Presley and his spiritual music. 

She is survived by  her  daughters, Dolores  D. McAuliffe  of  Malden and  Donna  M. Martell  of Manchester, NH and her sons, Robert  W. Jewell of Malden and  Richard  C. Jewell of St. Johnsbury,  VT. She was the cherished grandmother of twenty-two grandchildren and  twenty-nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by  her father Albert Clisbee, her mother Effie Shute, and her brother Calvin W. Clisbee.

Visitation will be held at Weir- MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144  Salem St., Malden,  on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at 10:30 AM. at the funeral home. Rev. Randell Ferrara will be officiating. Cremation will follow at Woodlawn Crematory, Everett.
