Theresa C."Kiddy"Johnson

Theresa “Kiddy”  Johnson,  92, a  longtime resident of Malden, died Monday, March 12, 2007 at Mass General Hospital in Boston.  Kiddy was born and raised in Malden.   She attended the Malden School System and graduated from Malden High School.   After marrying  Dr. Alden S. Johnson, the two settled Connecticut where their daughters were born, and soon relocated back to  Malden to raise their family.  They shared many wonderful years together until Alden's passing in 1971.

Kiddy worked for many years at the A.W. Chesterton Company, first at Everett, and then followed the company to Stoneham. She retired from the company in 1978.  Not content to be retired she took employment at the Lady Grace Women’s Store in Malden.  She enjoyed her years working at Lady Grace, with both the staff she worked with and the clients who would visit the store.

Kiddy began each day reading the newspaper.  She felt there was a value in keeping her mind sharp, and never stopped learning new things.   She was an independent woman who enjoyed life and other people, and she also had a great sense of humor.   She was a member of the 630 Club at 630 Salem Street and was a past member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church of Malden.

She is survived by her daughters,  Thea L. McDowell  of Revere, MA,  and  Christine L. Johnson  of Salem, NH, her sister,  Martha Magnuson  of Malden, her grandson,  Dr. Craig S. McDowell  and his wife Debra of Simpsonville, SC., and her two great grandchildren,  Emily K. & Erik T. McDowell of SC.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr.  Alden S. Johnson, her parents,  Evald and Martha (Bockleman) Magnuson, and her brother Dr. Robert Magnuson.

Contributions in Kiddy’s memory may be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital Fund, MGH Development Office, 165 Cambridge Street, Suite 600, Boston MA 02114

Funeral services will be private.
