Donald Richard Jones

 

    Donald R. Jones Sr., of Malden,  died Saturday evening, February 17, 2007 at Golden Living Center,  Melrose, MA  Don was born on October 15, 1933 in Malden, Don was the son of the late Robert E. & Greata M. (Lawson) Jones, he was 73. Don was educated in the Malden school system and was later employed by the City of Malden Department of Public Works.  Don was a heavy duty equipment mechanic for the city and had worked for twenty years and later retired in 1994.

   He was a longtime active member of the Maplewood Baptist Church, as well a former member of the Men’s Brotherhood, the Boston Baptist Social Union, Maplewood Baptist Sunday Men’s Group and was a former member of the Malden Moose Club.  He enjoyed gardening, bingo, cribbage, and had a special affinity for fixing cars as well duck hunting.  Don was a life long resident of Malden.

   Don is survived by his wife E. Joyce (Lynch) Jones of Malden, and his son Donald R. Jones Jr. of Malden. He was the brother of Grace Jones of Acton, Ralph Jones of Hadley, Barbara Swible of Malden, Beverly Thatcher of OH, Virginia Dawson of Maryland  and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father Robert Jones, his mother Greta Lawson, his brother’s David, Edward, Robert Jones, his sister, Emma Comis.

  Relatives and friends may call at the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home; 144 Salem St., Malden, on Wednesday, February 21st.  from 4-8 PM. Contributions in Don’s memory may be made to the Maplewood Baptist Church, Memorial Fund.       

  Funeral services will be held in the Maplewood Baptist Church, 729 Salem St., Malden on Thursday,  Feb. 22nd.,  at 10 AM.  Pastor Gary McClenthen of Maplewood Baptist Church will be officiating.  Interment in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
